Effective Accelerationists, also known as e/acc, believe that the path to a better future lies in the continued acceleration of technology development, proliferation and adoption, in particular Artificial Intelligence. Effective Accelerationists tend to be pro-freedom, pro-capitalism, pro-technology. The community is loose-knit, informal, open to new members and new contributions.
It’s also important to note that the concepts behind e/acc are originally derived from principles of thermodynamics. You can find the original substack post here which officially marks the beginning of e/acc and goes into the science behind it.
The community first formed on social media in 2022, and bonded in Twitter Spaces and group chats over memes, late-night conversations, and skepticism towards techno-pessimists. To further solidify their presence, it then built an offline component, organising events such as hackathons and parties in the Bay Area and elsewhere.
